Route: Bhavnagar, Sihor, Botad, Rajkot.
Bhavnagar to Rajkot is 170 km and about three and a half hours, inland through Sihor and Botad. The two cities sit at opposite corners of Saurashtra and the road between them is the quiet sort — no coast, no hills, just fields and small towns.
A fair share of this traffic is Palitana. Pilgrims who have climbed Shatrunjaya come down to Bhavnagar and then need a way onward, and Rajkot is the junction and the airport that provides it.
What to see on the Bhavnagar to Rajkot route
- 01
Sihor
Half an hour out of Bhavnagar, in the low hills behind it, with an old palace standing above the town.
- 02
Botad
The halfway town and the usual break. From here the road runs more or less straight at Rajkot.
- 03
Palitana, before you travel
Shatrunjaya's three thousand-odd steps are an early-morning job and the gates shut in the afternoon, so it is better finished the day before you move on.
- 04
Velavadar
The blackbuck park is off the Ahmedabad road rather than this one, but it can be worked in if you have a morning to give it.
- 05
At the Rajkot end
The station is central and Hirasar airport another 35 km out on the Ahmedabad side.
Good to know
- Coming down from Palitana the same morning? Allow for the climb — people routinely underestimate what three thousand steps do to a schedule.
- Alang is near Bhavnagar but not on this road, and entry needs permission arranged in advance. Say so early if that is the trip.
- Three and a half hours each way makes a day return long but workable. Most people would rather the car waited.
- There is less on this road than on our highway routes, so eat in Bhavnagar or at Botad rather than hoping for something later.
FAQ
Bhavnagar to Rajkot — frequently asked questions
What is the Bhavnagar to Rajkot cab fare?
From ₹2,500 one-way in a sedan and ₹3,000 in an Ertiga, with fuel, driver allowance and taxes included; tolls and parking at actuals. The same fare applies either way.
How far is Rajkot from Bhavnagar?
About 170 km, roughly three and a half hours through Sihor and Botad. It is a quieter road than the national highways and in reasonable condition throughout.
Can you pick up from Palitana instead?
Yes, and it is a common booking. Palitana is about an hour short of Bhavnagar on this side, so being collected there rather than going back into the city saves time and costs no more.
Will you drop at Rajkot airport?
Yes. Hirasar International is 35 km past Rajkot, so allow about four and a quarter hours from Bhavnagar before check-in.
