Route: Rajkot, Jamnagar, Khambhalia, Bhatiya, Dwarka.
Dwarka is one of the four Char Dham and one of the seven ancient holy cities, and for most families in Saurashtra the journey starts with working out how to get there comfortably. The drive from Rajkot runs 230 km almost entirely on NH-27, a wide and well-surfaced highway, which makes it one of the easier long runs in Gujarat — roughly four and a half hours with one tea stop.
We run this route constantly, particularly around Janmashtami and through the winter darshan season. Our drivers know where the temple parking actually is, which matters more than it sounds on a crowded morning, and they know the timing of the Dwarkadhish aarti so you are not left waiting outside a closed sanctum.
What to see on the Rajkot to Dwarka route
- 01
Dwarkadhish Temple
The Jagat Mandir, with its 78-metre spire and the flag that is changed five times a day. Mornings before 9 are the calmest for darshan.
- 02
Nageshwar Jyotirlinga
One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, about 17 km from Dwarka town, marked by the enormous seated Shiva statue visible from the road.
- 03
Bet Dwarka
An island reached by ferry from Okha, roughly 30 km on. Allow half a day — the crossing and the queue both take longer than people expect.
- 04
Rukmini Devi Temple
A 12th-century temple a couple of kilometres out of town, usually quiet, and worth the short detour for the carvings alone.
- 05
Jamnagar, on the way
Ninety kilometres in, a natural lunch halt. Lakhota Lake and the Bala Hanuman temple are both minutes off the highway.
Good to know
- Leave Rajkot by 5 am if you want morning darshan and to be back the same day — it is long but many families do it.
- Janmashtami and Diwali fill Dwarka completely. Book the cab and your rooms several weeks ahead.
- Bet Dwarka ferries stop running in rough weather during the monsoon; check before committing to that leg.
- Mobile phones are not allowed inside the main temple, and the cloakroom queue is slow. Leave them in the car.
FAQ
Rajkot to Dwarka — frequently asked questions
What is the Rajkot to Dwarka cab fare?
A one-way trip starts at ₹4,000 in a Dzire or Aura sedan, and ₹4,500 in an Ertiga. That is the full fare — fuel, driver allowance and taxes are all included; tolls and parking are charged at actuals. Round trips, an Innova Crysta or a tempo traveller are quoted on request — tell us your dates and group size and we will price it exactly.
How long does it take to reach Dwarka from Rajkot by car?
About four and a half hours for the 230 km, allowing for one short break. NH-27 is in good condition the whole way, so the timing is reliable outside of festival weekends.
Can I do Rajkot to Dwarka and back in one day?
Yes, and plenty of our customers do. Starting at 5 am gets you to Dwarka for morning darshan with time for Nageshwar before heading back. If you also want Bet Dwarka, stay the night — the ferry makes a same-day return very tight.
Does the fare include Nageshwar and Bet Dwarka?
Local sightseeing beyond the drop point is charged separately, since it adds distance and waiting time. Mention it when booking and we will quote one inclusive price for the whole day rather than adding it on afterwards.
