Route: Dwarka, Bhatiya, Khambhalia, Jamnagar, Rajkot.
Dwarka back to Rajkot is 230 km of NH-27 and about four and a half hours, an easier drive than the map makes it look — four-lane most of the way, with Jamnagar the only town big enough to slow anything down.
It is the leg people most often misjudge, and the reason is Bet Dwarka. The island runs on the ferry and the ferry runs on the queue, so if you want the boat and an afternoon arrival in Rajkot, the crossing has to be an early one.
What to see on the Dwarka to Rajkot route
- 01
Before you leave: Bet Dwarka
The ferry from Okha is half an hour each way plus however long the queue is. Allow three hours for the island if you are doing it on the morning you leave.
- 02
Bhatiya and Khambhalia
The first hour, open country and good road. Khambhalia is where the Porbandar road turns off south.
- 03
Jamnagar, halfway
Worth an hour of anybody's time: Lakhota Lake sits in the middle of the old town, and the brass market is the reason the city exists at all.
- 04
Nageshwar, if you missed it
The Jyotirlinga is on the Dwarka–Bet road, so seeing it on the way out of town costs nothing extra.
- 05
The last ninety kilometres
From Jamnagar in is the fastest stretch of the day. Hirasar airport is 35 km beyond Rajkot if you are flying on.
Good to know
- Check the Bet Dwarka ferry before fixing a departure time. It is the one part of this trip that nobody can hurry.
- Flying out of Rajkot? Leave Dwarka by mid-morning — four and a half hours plus the run out to Hirasar is most of a day.
- Jamnagar is almost exactly halfway and makes a better lunch stop than anything else on the road.
- Porbandar is about an hour south of Khambhalia. If Kirti Mandir is still on the list, it fits here rather than as a trip of its own.
FAQ
Dwarka to Rajkot — frequently asked questions
What is the Dwarka to Rajkot cab fare?
From ₹4,000 one-way in a sedan and ₹4,500 in an Ertiga, inclusive of fuel, driver allowance and taxes. Tolls and parking at actuals, and the fare is the same in either direction.
How long does Dwarka to Rajkot take by road?
About four and a half hours for 230 km on NH-27, through Bhatiya, Khambhalia and Jamnagar. Jamnagar is the only place the road really slows.
Can we stop at Jamnagar on the way?
Yes, and most people do. It is close to the halfway mark, so an hour there for Lakhota Lake or the brass market barely moves the arrival time.
Will you drop us at Rajkot airport?
Yes. Hirasar International is about 35 km past the city on the Ahmedabad side, so allow roughly 45 minutes on top of the four and a half hours.
