Route: Rajkot, Dhrol, Jamnagar.
Ninety kilometres of good highway makes Jamnagar the easiest run out of Rajkot — two hours door to door on NH-27, with nothing complicated in between. It is also the most routine: business travel to the refineries and the brass works, hospital appointments, and the first leg of almost every Dwarka trip.
The city itself is worth more time than people give it. The old walled town around Lakhota Lake is intact, the Marine National Park in the Gulf of Kutch is the first of its kind in India, and Jamnagar has been the centre of Indian brass manufacturing for a century.
What to see on the Rajkot to Jamnagar route
- 01
Lakhota Lake and Palace
A small fort-palace on an island in the middle of the lake, reached by causeway, now a museum. The lake fills with birds in winter.
- 02
Bala Hanuman Temple
On the lake shore, and in the Guinness records for continuous chanting since 1964 — unbroken, day and night.
- 03
Marine National Park
India’s first, in the Gulf of Kutch. Coral and mangrove reachable at low tide; the timings are set by the tide, not the clock.
- 04
Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary
Freshwater and saltwater wetlands side by side, about 12 km out. Exceptional between November and February.
- 05
The brass market
Working workshops rather than a showroom — the trade Jamnagar is actually known for.
Good to know
- Jamnagar is the natural halfway stop on the Dwarka run; build in an hour if you are heading further west.
- Marine National Park visits have to be timed to low tide. Check before fixing the day.
- The bird sanctuaries are at their best from November to February and thin out considerably after March.
- Two hours each way makes this comfortable as a half-day trip with the car waiting.
FAQ
Rajkot to Jamnagar — frequently asked questions
What is the Rajkot to Jamnagar cab fare?
From ₹1,500 one-way in a sedan and ₹2,000 in an Ertiga, with fuel, driver allowance and taxes included. Tolls and parking at actuals. Round trips are quoted on request.
How far is Jamnagar from Rajkot?
90 km on NH-27, about two hours. It is the shortest of our regular outstation routes.
Do you do same-day return trips to Jamnagar?
Constantly — it is the most common way this route is booked. A round-trip quote covers the car and driver waiting for you, which works out far cheaper than two separate one-way trips. Ask for it when you book.
Can we stop at Jamnagar on the way to Dwarka?
Yes, and most people do. Jamnagar is almost exactly the midpoint. A lunch stop or a couple of hours at Lakhota Lake adds nothing to the fare on a Dwarka booking — just tell the driver.
