Morbi is the shortest of our outstation runs — 65 km north-west, an hour and a half door to door. Almost nobody books it as sightseeing. Most of the people in the car are going to look at tiles, because most of India's ceramic tiles are made in this one town.
That changes what the booking should look like. A one-way drop is rarely what a buyer wants: the factories are spread across the district and you will be in and out of four of them. A car kept for the day works out cheaper and far less trouble.
What to see on the Rajkot to Morbi route

The ceramics district
Hundreds of units along the Morbi–Wankaner and Morbi–Navlakhi roads. Spread out enough that walking between two of them is not an option.

Tankara, halfway
Swami Dayanand Saraswati, who founded the Arya Samaj, was born here in 1824. The road passes straight through it, 40 km from Rajkot.

Maha Shivaratri at Tankara
A two-day mela every year, with a procession and a maha yajna. The one time of year this quiet road is not quiet.

A working town
Morbi is a place of business, not a hill station. Mani Mandir, the carved temple Waghji Thakor raised beside the river, and the old Machchhu riverfront are what there is to look at, and an hour covers both.

On the way to Kutch
The Bhuj and Gandhidham roads both run through Morbi, so a factory visit slots neatly into the front of a Kutch trip.
Good to know
- Book the car by the day if you are visiting factories. Four stops and a wait at each is one booking, not four.
- Mornings are better for factory appointments, and the road is empty before nine.
- Say if you are coming off a flight. Hirasar airport is on the Rajkot side and we pick up there for Morbi often.
- If Kutch is next, tell us when you book — Morbi is on that road anyway and there is no sense paying twice for the same 65 km.
